Spending New Year & 1st Wedding Anniversary

My husband %26amp; I have booked to fly to Los Angeles 20th Dec 07 - 03rd Jan 08. We will therefore be away for both Christmas %26amp; New Year and would like some suggestions on how to celebrate in style. We intend to travel north from Los Angeles so that we are in Vegas for New Years. Any suggestions for Christmas day or New Years. Also we are celebrating our first anniversity %26amp; therefore would like a really nice hotel (not crazily expensive) but with some luxury to enjoy at New Years.

Not asking for much am I !!!

Thanks

K

In addition to being insanely expensive, Vegas will also be insanely crowded for New Year%26#39;s. Don%26#39; t plan on arriving in Vegas on New Year%26#39;s Eve itself, you will want to get there at least the day before.

As previous posts have said, New Year in Vegas is a complete madhouse. EXTREMELY expensive and crowded. Rooms that go for under $100 at quiet times can easily cost $500 per night and you normally have to stay for a three night minimum. Any restaurants and shows need to be booked as far in advance as possible. If you still feel that it%26#39;s for you then research your trip well by asking more specific questions on here and book everything as soon as you can.

I think you will have a great time in Vegas for New Years. The only things that were increased in price for us over this past New Year%26#39;s were the room (2-3 times the normal price) and the party tickets, although about the price of tickets for New Year%26#39;s tickets here in Chicago. I recommend that you investigate the hotel you want and book directly through the hotel. If you find a good price now, book it. Anything in the 200-300 price range right now would be worth booking. The prices will get out of hand if you wait to book the room. We went to the party at Risque (paris) and found it to be excellent. Helpful staff, an outdoor patio to watch the fireworks, plus they let you to exit and come back in.

We paid the usual price at the restaurants we ate at over the weekend. However, we did not go to a fancy restaurant for New Year%26#39;s----cannot speak on the upscale places for this holiday.

There are many people who think you should not go to Vegas on New Years, but we had a great time. I think you will have a wonderful 1st anniversary if you carefully plan in advance.

PS-Let me know if you have any specific questions---
