3 of us going 5/27 to 5/30. Have been reading on here and elsewhere that car rental is better and cheaper than public transportation. Can get a 4 day rental for $85.00 complete.
This amount has to be just as much as airport shuttle or taxi (round trip) and 4 days of public transportation in LV. I have read that parking is free everywhere (is this true?), but was wondering if driving on the Strip is worth the convenience of the car. We would probably only use it to go downtown, possibly to the casinos on Boulder Blvd., and to off-Strip restaurants and hotels. We will be staying mid-Strip. Any suggestions?
Car rental or not?
There is free parking but you will find that valet parking is more convenient. Free lots are usually at the rear of the property and can be a lengthy walk to the casino. Valet is usually located at the front of the hotel with easy casino access.
If you are staying mid-strip, then you are probably a $10 cab ride from each end of the strip, except for Fremont or the Strat. Split that between everyone and it is a pretty cheap ride.
I drink and usually the people in my party do as well. So taking cabs make more since for us. Will everyone in your party be drinking? If so, then I recommend using the public transportation. No need to ruin a perfectly good trip with either an accident or a DWI.

Car rental or not?
Not sure what the question is here. You couldn%26#39;t accomplish all that using the bus and doing it using cabs would break anyone%26#39;s wallet. Parking and valet are free and if you map your routes out well you shouldn%26#39;t have to actually drive much on the strip.
3 people to and from airport by shuttle: $36. By cab, maybe same.
3 2-way tix on LV Tram: $27. That%26#39;s just 2 rides per person.
Cab to Downtown and back: $40.
Keep the car!
Rent the car for mobility.
Joe:
We are coming to LV in May and am trying to find rates for car rental. Could you tell me where you found the rates/what company? I have been trying to shop around but am a novice at this and any help would be appreciated. Enjoy your LV trip. Thanks
Thanks to all for the suggestions.
I found that Enterprise had the best rates. Then, since I%26#39;m a member of AAA and AARP, i went to their sites and looked under car rentals. The AARP site had enterprise on there at a 5% discount, which is only about $4.00. But even without the discount, a 4-day rental from Enterprise was only about $88.00, including all taxes and fees. They say they are at the airport, but also mention that they will shuttle you to your car. Not sure what that means, but it sounds OK to me.
It means they have a desk at the airport to complete all your paperwork and then shuttle you to the parking lot to pick-up your car = fyi you will need to return the car to the orignial pick-up place and then they will shuttle you back to the airport
Thanks. But I%26#39;m just not sure if the lot is on or off the airport property.
All the car rental lots are located elsewhere. At the end of the month, they all be a one giant facility about a mile away from the airport.
Just another question about parking. I know our hotel has free parking, but if we drove to another hotel to see a show, would we be able to take the car there and park for free?
