I did something completely trusting and admittedly completely STUPID that I%26#39;ve never done before. Honestly, I KNOW I only have myself to blame.
I opted to pay my hotel bill in CASH at the end of my stay rather than having the exchange put on my credit card (you know how much you get billed for that!). Long story short. The clerk handed me a receipt with a balance still outstanding. When I pointed it out to him... he said only his supervisor could accept cash (yeah right) and that I could wait if I wanted... Naturally, in a hurry - I just waved it off. To my credit he left the wad of cash right beside his keyboard and made no attempt to hide it or pocket it... I%26#39;m sure the next clerk (the supervisor) saw it. They were also having computer problems that morning.
I checked my credit card today, hold your breath people, I%26#39;ve been billed! Yeah, only myself to blame, but I%26#39;m somewhat PO%26#39;d. After all, with a hotel like the MGM SIGNATURE you%26#39;d figure they%26#39;d have control of their staff and billing.
I%26#39;m waiting for a reply from their billing department. Yes, on top of it all I got VOICEMAIL. I%26#39;ll let you all know how it turned out.
Too bad this is ruining one of my greatest hotel stays ever.
Double Billed!
you%26#39;ve contacted the hotel, although I would call and not accept v%26#39;mail - talk to a live person.
they will rectify this easy, the day you checked out they had to record how much cash was taken in - if it was.
based on what you wrote it sounds like you did not wait for a receipt, correct? (and why doubt the clerk - he has no reason to lie to you)
the hotel will handle this without any trouble
Double Billed!
For your sake, I hope they have decent view of you on the security tape. Call their security office and tell them what happened - you got scammed.
Yeah, they must have had a good view of me and the cash. I%26#39;m an artist and drew a HUGE cartoon on the pad at the front desk while I was waiting for the receipt. It would have been hard to miss.
Call them right away. They don%26#39;t necessarily keep the video from non-gaming areas very long.
Dispute the bill asap with your credit card. Do not pay the bill if you paid in cash!
Next write a letter and mail to their corporate office, by fedex with signature required or certified mail. There should be some type of camera that might have captured the transacation.
Check your receipt, there might be a time and date of transacation. With all the computer systems, they probably will know who checked you out. Letters work better than calls.
Don%26#39;t give up!
Thanks folks. Just got off the phone (call #2). The billing office is only open 9-3 so I%26#39;ll have to call back tomorrow.
Pleasant operator was UNABLE to access my account. I suspect this is a challenge because of my upgrade from MGM to Signature.
Will definately call VISA tomorrow if I don%26#39;t get resolution directly with the hotel.
Did you get your money back? I%26#39;m hoping to settle in cash when we leave and if they do this to me......oh my........oh my....they will know about it.
Sorry about all the problems. I%26#39;m sure it will be resolved but the lesson is, if you%26#39;re paying cash for any service where you%26#39;ve previously given over your credit card details is GET A RECEIPT and retain it until you%26#39;re sure you%26#39;re not going to be billed again.
Well I hope they have the video - otherwise there is zero way to prove you paid - nothing but your word. I%26#39;m not saying you%26#39;re dishonest - but c%26#39;mon, a lot of people are. You can fight the charge but it seems like a losing battle on your part to me.
DestinyVP,
From what you are saying, you did NOT sign the credit card receipt, otherwise why would you if you paid the hotel bill with cash.
Call your credit card company NOW, and ask them to please put a hold on the charge. Tell them you already paid the hotel bill in cash. When MGM sees this, they will dispute this with your credit card company, and at that time the credit card company will call you to help mediate the charge.
Good luck.
