Any recommendations on hotels and attractions for families? We%26#39;re planning a trip out west next summer and want to spend a day or 2 in Vegas before heading to Grand Canyon.

for kids that age, probably staying at Excalibur would excite them.
i%26#39;ve also read good reviews of the tournament of kings. it seems to go over very well with kids in that age group.

Another suggestion would be the Orleans. They have a movie theatre, bowling, decent food prices, and an arcade for children. They also currently have a shuttle to the strip.
South Point the same stuff about 5 miles or so, south on the strip.
Shuttle to Mandalay Bay.
Do a search on this forum for ';kids in Vegas';. I%26#39;m not going to restart the whole debate all over again just for your benefit.
Circus Circus is great for kids. The Adventure Dome looks like it could keep them entertained for hours on end, and the free Circus act is cool too, also good for adults!!
Another vote for Tournament of Kings at Excalibur. It%26#39;s great for kids--my husband loved it :)

maybe it%26#39;s her first post because it is her first trip - duh and this one won%26#39;t stir a controversy because she said it is only for a day or so as part of a larger trip. Give the woman a break.
pick a hotel with a good pool, mandalay bay, monte carlo, mgm are good choices.
The Orleans would be perfect for a family. They have a shuttle to the strip, a nice pool, many restaurant options, bowling and a movie theater. It is a nice inexpensive hotel. I think it is nicer than the Excalibur and certainly nicer than Circus Circus. With the shuttle leaving you off at Bill%26#39;s (Barbary Coast) you will have a central location.
The Luxor has usually shows some nice 3-D movies in their IMAX theater. There are animals at Mandalay Bay (Shark Reef- rather expensive but nice), Dolphin Pool/Secret Garden(Mirage), Lion Habitate (MGM) and animals at the back of the Flamingo. There are rides at Sahara, Strat and NY NY but they have height limitations.
Here is a list of attractions for kids:

You might also like to see a show- Mystere would be great and you don%26#39;t have to get the expensive tickets- the cheap seats would be fine.
Hard to give a break when there are so many ';New'; people posting the same things over and over on this subject trying to get something started.
And yes, I fell right into it.
