50th birthday in Nov-picking a hotel

I have finally talked my twin brother into a LV trip for our 50th birthday November 10 for 3 nights. He is a Vegas Virgin and doesn%26#39;t really like to gamble (his girlfriend has been to Vegas once, but doesn%26#39;t even remember where she stayed)--I have been to Vegas probably 15 times and now that I live to close to Shreveport, I probably go there 1 a month to get my gambling fix. I like to play high limit slots.

Now for the big decision--where to stay?? I am a Bellagio, Wynn kinda girl--he is not going to care for Wynn at all and since he is not going to gamble he would probably find the restaurants too expensive too.

I am thinking Caesar%26#39;s Palace might be a more sensible choice--maybe the Augustus tower. I want enough wow factor that he is going to love LV whether he gambles or not. I even agreed to pay for their room to get him to agree to the trip, so I don%26#39;t want to go to expensive, although I will probably get my own room comped.

Any suggestions from others near our age group?

Since it%26#39;s your brother%26#39;s first trip to Vegas, you%26#39;ll want to stay on the Strip (if that wasnt obvious LOL).

Caesar%26#39;s Palace isnt a bad choice... I would also suggest Monte Carlo, Mirage and Paris. Stayed at Paris last time when fiancee and I went out in October and really enjoyed it.

Good luck!

Caesar%26#39;s is a great choice. It definatley has that ';wow'; factor. But it also has cheap slots, in case they get the bug. Plus, it%26#39;s easy to get to other places, like Harrah%26#39;s for Carnival Court or Bellagio for the fountain show.

Ceasar%26#39;s would be perfect - center of the action and lots of variety - good shopping and a wide range of resturants. I took my non-gambling sister to vegas for her 40th - starting the week before I would e-mail her the web page (or picture) for one non-gambling attraction (wax museum, fountains, conservatory) just to wet her appetite - she had a ball (her favorite was the car museum at IP - go figure) and she has now been back 3 times and even has a gambling budget of $50/day

Great idea about emailing pictures a week ahead of things to do!! Glad your sister is hooked, one can only hope I can get my brother hooked too!

I called Caesars and made the reservation! My room is comped in the Augustus tower--his is costing $320, $360 and $360 for Nov-8, 9 %26amp; 10.

They did offer me some kind of ';friends and family'; deal on the 2nd room, but it was in an older tower so I declined. I just read SallyandJack%26#39;s review (posted under hotel reviews on the left side) of the Augustus tower room and the pictures convinced me--hope one of us gets upgraded to the Petite suite because the views were awesome!

I will also check rates as the dates get nearer.

If you guys are non-smokers then I recommend The Signature @ MGM Grand. Sounds like a good fit for you guys. You can ignore the casinos, smoke if you want - but still right there for restaurants/monorail, etc.

As I was reading your post . . . CP is what popped into my mind immeidately. Great choice!

I gotta differ with with Cesaers Palace suggestions. Yes the hotel itself is quite cool and certainly a must see for any first time visitor, but their rooms are insanely expensive to be as blah as they are. For less $$$ you could get nicer rooms at several of the nicer strip hotels.

How about Venetian? It has the wow factor and has lots of non-gambling things to do. MGM is full of non gambling things to do as well.

If it%26#39;s his first time and the big 50 - I%26#39;d treat him to a stellar room at the wynn or bellagio or venetian. I agree Wynn does lack a bit in things to do for the non-gambling non-zillionaire but it%26#39;s so worth seeing and there%26#39;s always a cab waiting outside to take anywhere else you may want to go. :)

Awesome 50th b-day gift!

Bellagio. It is much quieter. No dinging slots.

Oops, I just realized my last post could indicate they did not have slots. This is untrue. They have slots, they just are turned down, so it is much quieter.
