Me and my mum are going to vegas on our own for a week in April has anyone got any tips to watch out for???? thank you in advance.
VEGAS..mother and daughter alone, any safety tips??
As long as you are just hanging around the strip and those hotels, vegas is really a pretty safe place. Just like any city, stay out of the rough parts of town, yada yada. Keep a watchful eye on your purse when gambling, shopping, etc.
Each strip hotel has some of the best security in the world so you should be quite safe.
VEGAS..mother and daughter alone, any safety tips??
leave the jewelry at home, don%26#39;t be drunk around strangers, and use your brains. keep an eye on your purse and don%26#39;t let any strangers in your room. if somebody comes to your door and you didn%26#39;t call for room service, call the operator and verify that they are legitimate. stick to the populated areas of the strip and under the canopy downtown. take cabs at night rather than walk through less populated areas.
Where are you staying?
I%26#39;ve conventioned in LV annually. Staying around the major Mega-Casinos you will see ample security. On a few long walks to see other attractions you will occasionally walk by some undeveloped lots. This would be a place to avoid unless walking in a large group. There are barkers and flyer jockeys trying to hustle people who walk by. You don%26#39;t see this when you are on casino property, only in the vacant lots inbetween or where little stripmalls exist.
In most cases the Casino you are staying at will have plenty enough to keep you entertained on the property. OR be nearby enough to others, with walkways, etc. you will have no problems.
Use common sense, keep your purse secure, and your eyes open.
I would like to add that Downtown at night, under the canopy, is safe as well. I have wandered that area alone quite late (staggered back to my Golden Nugget room at 4 a.m. once), without being mugged or killed.
Use common sense, and the safety precautions you would use at home. Keep hotel room door secure, don%26#39;t travel with lots of cash, stick together, avoid unlit areas at night, stick to crowded areas, have a photocopy of your passport and other important documents tucked away somewhere, always be aware of your surroundings.
Don%26#39;t become paranoid to the point where you forget to have fun.

Vegas, on the strip, is safer than Manchester.
Small hand bag for the usual. DO NOT lay it down next to a slot machine. Keep it under control and in sight at all times.
Get a safe deposit box at cashier cage to store xtra money and pass ports, etc.
Use Common sense.
Thank you for all your tips... some great advice from you all. We are staying at Imperial Palace so i think we are quite central for most things? Thanks again really looking forward to it now.
Just like in any other city ...don%26#39;t be a victim, don%26#39;t act like a victim, be aware of your surroundings, hold your handbag close, don%26#39;t get a false sense of security and wander out of the safety area of the strip casinos or the downtown canopy and you%26#39;ll do fine.
And have fun.
In general Women who have grown to adulthood have usually learned how not to be a victim. Usually! Use your common sense and don%26#39;t think that just because you%26#39;re in Vegas you can take chances.
Imperial Palace is a great location. If you were staying at the Stratosphere, I%26#39;d warn you about walking around outside.
Unless you%26#39;re going to be walking around in dark alleys, you can wear all the nice jewelry you want. That%26#39;s the whole point.
Like others have said, watch your bags, don%26#39;t just leave them lying around. It amazes me that anyone from anywhere would be stupid enough to do that, but apparently plenty of people are.
Don%26#39;t let random strangers into your room (duh).
Most of the bad things that happen in the tourist areas of Vegas are brought on by the victims themselves. Random crimes are rare, except for the case of the left-behind purse.
Ignore them timeshare people or tell them your paycheck comes from the Omani government. That keeps them away.
