Driving Direction from Hoover Dam to Valley of Fire

Just wondering what is the best way to travel from Hoover Dam to Valley of Fire.

Map quest is saying to go back into Las Vegas and then take Hwy 15 out to VoF. I would like to take 93 to 166 to 167 and then Hwy 15 back to LV. Looks like it would be a nice ride. Just worried it might take to long.

Has anyone done this trip? MQ is saying from Hoover Dam to VoF 1h 37m. This is going back through LV.

How long will the scenic route take approx. (non-stop)? HD to VoF, then back to the Strip.

Driving Direction from Hoover Dam to Valley of Fire

We did the scenic route when we were there last week from VOF to Hoover Dam. Park guy told us it was about 1/2 hour longer. I seriously think it was an hour longer. It is really curvy and kind of got boring after awhile (same scenery). I am sorry I didn%26#39;t pay closer attention, but I think going back through Las Vegas is probably faster. Good luck.

Alias, thanks for the response. I鈥檓 not too concerned an hour extra of time. So it sounds like you just went the other way, then what I was thinking. You started in LV to VoF, to HD, and then back to LV.

How long was the total trip? I know this can very depending on stops a sight seeing. Could I get this done in 6-8 hour (driving, sight seeing, and lunch)?
