1st Timer - Help!

there%26#39;s about 4 zillion vegas websites - it all kind of depends on what you are looking for. Vegas is such a ';relative'; place as it caters to the rich, the poor, the wild partier, the easy going show patron, the cheap buffet lover to the fan of the most expensive restaurants in town.

What questions did you have specifically, maybe we can then help get you pointed in the right direction. :)

sweetsherry posted this last week, hope it helps

If you are new to visiting Las Vegas....check out these websites...I have found them to be most helpful in planning my vacation.

You can get a lot of answers to your basic questions (weather, time to go etc) by using the forum search (box in upper right of page) and reading countless old posts from this forum.

thank you for your replies ! just really want to know the ';concept'; of Las Vegas. I know about the casinos etc but am I right to assume there are ';countries'; and theme parks ??

Theme parks no (thank God!)

The countries you refer to are the themes of some of the hotels - Luxor = Egypt, Caesars = Ancient Rome, Paris and Venetian = you get the idea.

You say you%26#39;re familiar with what casinos are like? If you havn%26#39;t been to Vegas, nothing can prepare you.....:-)

I dont know what the casinos are like - I just know there are casinos - lol ! Thanks for the info ref the ';countries'; thats cleared that question up for me! _ whats the best time of year to vist - least crowded and nice weather

The months with the nicest weather (April - May and September - October) are the most expensive as that%26#39;s when everybody wants to visit and a lot of conventions are staged. You can get bargains in July - August (way too hot for a lot of people) and in December (chilly).

While most of the casinos / hotels are ';themed'; these days, it%26#39;s not like the different countries at Epcot center or anything. They are all themed around gambling, eating and shopping. That being said, yes NYNY is made to look like New York city, Paris has an Eiffel tower replica, Venetian has Gondola%26#39;s, etc. For a first timer I recommend spending a day and just cruising from hotel to hotel. I think it%26#39;s easiest just take cab rides from one to ther other but some walk and some take the monorail. For a first timer each of the major proerties on the strip is overwhelming and lots of fun to experience.

Each is more lavish, more opulent and more over-the-top than anything most have seen. If you really want to have fun - rent a Ferrari or limo for the day and cruise around some. The must see%26#39;s IMo are:

Wynn, Bellagio, Venetian, Mirage, Mandalay, MGM, Cesaers, Paris, NYNY.. did I leave any out?

Lots of people say ';oh you gotta see old vegas too'; but frankly it just does nothing for me.

Thanks MarkDoesVegas - thats a great help - so its OK to just walk into all the hotels then?
