Check in was very quick and sort of uneventful.
I say SORT OF uneventful because something wierd happened. Tried slipping the guy at the desk $30 for upgrading our suite to one with a PERFECT view of the fountains without being asked. HE KINDLY DECLINED THE TIP!!!
I don%26#39;t remember anyone ever declinging a tip in las vegas.
Is this one of the signs of the apocolypse?
Had a comped dinner at the buffet...added a few things like prime rib and such and it was pretty good.
The rennovations to the lobby are VERY nice and the casino itself is pretty decent, not awsome but decent. Room is exactly the same average to slightly above average room as I%26#39;ve come to know from previous visits.
THE CASINO IS FINE by the way. Not the biggest in LV but fine. I didn%26#39;t have any problems finding a machine. The way they set up some of the games was a bit odd. Some spots are so that there is walk way then all of a sudden a cranny just barely big enough to slide through between a machine and the wall. Drink service was pretty good.
None the less, plenty of games imo.
Valet service was good, room service was quick. On a sad note, did max%26#39;s for breakfast. I remembered this as a good place to eat but....It actually kind of sucked. Tasteless although service was good and friendly.
Another bad thing...AVOID THE NORTH TOWER ELEVATORS. The westgate people are there and will hawk you down no matter what. VERY annoying. Complained to the front desk about them and was told there was nothing they could do but they would elevate it to the supervisors.
Hoping they rectify this, actually enjoying myself here this time. Wasn%26#39;t paying much attention but lowest min i saw for tables was $10 which is what i played on but that might not be true.
Feel free to ask any questions. Here for 4 more days, plenty of time to ask questions or check out this or that for anyone. Will report further later tonight or tomorrow.
1st day tr at aladdin a strange happeningHave a great trip and hope you win lots of money. GOOD LUCK TO YOU.
1st day tr at aladdin a strange happeningWestgate people? Don%26#39;t EVEN tell me they are time share people INSIDE the hotel??????
Wow, almost a live play-by-play TR from Vegas! For the timeshare dudes-try dabbing your eyes to make it look like you%26#39;ve been crying, and keep mumbling to yourself: ';The kids%26#39; college savings. Gone in one roll of the dice!';
';we%26#39;re leaving today'; usually makes the timeshare people go away.
';Another bad thing...AVOID THE NORTH TOWER ELEVATORS. The westgate people are there and will hawk you down no matter what. VERY annoying. ';
Why would anyone let these people ';annoy'; you? They get a ';no thanks'; from me and that%26#39;s it. No eye contact, no stopping to chat. I certainly don%26#39;t answer their ';Hi! How long are you in town for?'; questions.
I certainly wouldn%26#39;t avoid an elevator because of their presence if the elevator was otherwise convenient...
Thats funny you should say that chrispina, we always do the old ';leaving today'; and a timeshare guy once said ';see ya tomorrow'; We all cracked up because it was so true.
Now that I think about it, they%26#39;re inside NYNY just over the bridge from MGM. But why would they be allowed to bother people next to the elevators? They%26#39;re like gnats.....
';I say SORT OF uneventful because something wierd happened. Tried slipping the guy at the desk $30 for upgrading our suite to one with a PERFECT view of the fountains without being asked. HE KINDLY DECLINED THE TIP!!!';
I%26#39;m a bit confused. Did you nicely ask for an upgrade, did he just give you one or did he decline a ';$20 trick'; slipped under a credit card and not upgrade you?
I%26#39;m glad to hear that the casino is still in good shape. I was there in January and it was fine, almost completely reopened following the renovations. Then I was surprised the other day when someone else posted that they were short on machines.
And I agree with others about the timeshare people. I never have a problem with them because we simply say no thank you and ignore everything from then on. I figure it%26#39;s less rude to ignore them than it is for them to interrupt my vacation.
Another tip- leave a few feet between you and your partner when you walk by timeshare people and they ought to leave you alone. They seem to always target couples. Singles get a pass.
I would certainly complain to the management if I couldn%26#39;t get to and from my room without getting harassed by timeshare reps every time. When I stayed at the Rio, they had a location right near the buffet and one of the entrances to the hotel. I never made eye contact and they didn%26#39;t bother me except once when they tried to offer me a free buffet lunch - I declined and that was that. But letting them set up right in front of the elevators is not cool.
Get the F@#% out of my face always seems to work for me.
