day 1: checked into Luxor - we had reserved a non-smoking tower room. They ran out of it so asked if we would like a pyramid room. (thats a downgrade) I was hoping for an upgrade. Anyways I said no, she said my best bet is to come back and check again the next day. She gave me a smoking room, it had a handicap washroom (no tub, no shower, only a hand shower) this totally ruined our mood and excitement of arriving at vegas. We hit the casino%26#39;s played a bit came back and checked for a room again I told her I am allergic to smoke and the handicapped washroom is terrible. She said we got lucky as her system showed 1 available. This room was nice.
Day 2: walked around MGM, Excalibur, Mandalay. Saw KA... totally not worth the money. most of it was street stuff. Few acrobats were very good.
Day 3: drove to GC-south rim. Checked into thunder bird. I%26#39;ll give it 5 stars. Nice room, good toiletries and coffee machine !!! only thing is room was not ready at 4.00 so we had to wait till 4.25.
Sunset at Hopi point. Beautiful
Day 4: woke up for sunrise saw it at yavapai point. Drove back to vegas. Checked into Bellagio. They gave room in the building besides the pool. Great hotel. walked around lots of hotels... ate crepes at paris. Higly recomended. saw 3 fountain shows.
day 5: walked aorund all the hotels in the strip. went to premium outlets. Okay not that great. went to fremont street. Nice place. fianlly found 99cent diaquir%26#39;s there. The strip is so expensive !
Went to the pure nightclub at ceasers.
day 6: back to Toronto
Overall comments: Vegas strip is expensive. whats with $ 8 for magerita%26#39;s in casino%26#39;s ? I tired to get free drinks at the slots.. but its too much of a wait till a waitress shows up.
-KA not worth it.
-Grand Canyon - worth the 5 hour drive. spend the night.
-Bellagio - good for 1 night. I would try for soemthign cheaper next time
-Luxor toooo far south
Las Vegas ---- Wild and fun place
TR - Luxor - Grand canyon - bellagio (couple in late 20's)
Sounds like a decent trip :)
What did you think of Pure?
TR - Luxor - Grand canyon - bellagio (couple in late 20's)
8 Bucks is cheap for a margarita, a decent one at least.
Well, glad you got a nice room, finally.
Glad you also enjoyed the Grand Canyon.
If the strip is too expensive for you, maybe try downtown or an off strip Casino like South Point.
Thanks for taking the time to write the TR.
Speaking of Margaritas, I got one free with my meal when I was at South Point in August! (Beats $8)
glad you had a nice time. was this your first trip to LV?
sorry to hear about the pyramid downgrade, but glad that you ended up in the right type of room after all :)
i know what you mean about cocktail servers! there are lots of times i%26#39;ll sit down at a machine and have to wait FOREVER for someone to come by. just the luck of the draw, i guess.
enjoyed your TR- and more importantly.... Where were the $0.99 daquiries on Fremont? I haven%26#39;t decided if Fremont is worth a look- now I%26#39;m thinking it just might be :)
the person I%26#39;m going with in June said there is also a place on the strip with $0.99 frozen margaritas. I was beginning to think those days were gone (either that- or he%26#39;s just crazy)... anyway- a bargain like that on the strip??? I%26#39;ll believe it when I see it (but I haven%26#39;t given up hope)
We considered Luxor as well, but the more I read on here, the happier I am that we%26#39;re spending more for the Mirage.
I hoping this is still a good tip as I noted it from a previous post for my upcoming trip:
Casino Royale has $1 Michelob and $1 Margaritas
Good report glad you had a good time,8 buck margaritas i rather make my own lol.
Thanks for the TR. I don%26#39;t really think a pyramid room is a downgrade from a tower room (though I guess sometimes they charge slightly less for them, weird) - for all you know, they might have put you in a Pyramid Spa Suite! Still, if you had your heart set on a tower room then it certainly makes sense to hold out for one.
Casino Royale not only has 99 cent frozen margaritas (they are small, served in a plastic cup), but they%26#39;re even pretty good. Choice of two flavors. Much better than the crap you get downtown at Mermaids. This is about the only good thing I have to say about Casino Royale :)
