Arriving in Las Vegas on a Saturday night -- advice

We%26#39;re arriving in Las Vegas 10:00 p.m. Sat. 4/7. We%26#39;ve never been in Vegas on the weekend -- any advice on transportation from the airport (shuttle/cab/tunnel)? Thanks!

Buy a round trip shuttle ticket, just outside the airport baggage doors, look for the signs. Cheaper than a cab and they drop you off right at the hotel jkust like a cab does and then you call them 24 hours in advance of your leaving and they will be there to pick you up and back to the airport. Usually about $11.00 round trip per person.

The vast majority of posters here disagree with getting a shuttle- they won%26#39;t leave until the van is full, and they stop at every hotel along the strip. A tax isn%26#39;t much more expensive if you%26#39;re more than 1 person and it goes straight where you want to be without all the stops.

I agree with Josh - take a cab. The fare to the strip is $10 to $15, plus tip, so if you are alone you aren%26#39;t spending much more than the shuttles. If there is more than one traveler, cabs can be cheaper than the shuttle. You are at the mercy of the shuttle schedule. If you miss one, you%26#39;ve got to wait for the next one. There are always taxis waiting at the terminal. Shuttles also take forever to reach your hotel since they have to stop off along the way at other hotels (and Murphy%26#39;s Law states that your hotel is always last on the shuttle route...)

Oh, and no tunnel for the trip to the Strip...

We%26#39;ve never waited more than 10 minutes for a shuttle to leave, and if you multiply $15 plus tip x 2 (to get back to the airport you have tripled what the shuttle costs. It is worth a few minutes wait to me. Plus you have to hope you have a taxi driver that doesn%26#39;t take you the scenic route. The one and only time we took the taxi it cost us $23.75 plus tip (which I told my husband not to give him as he cheated us anyway) to get to the Riviera.

I agree, skip the shuttle, as you have to wait until it is full, take a cab, costs about 45 more each way but you save time sitting in a hot van waiting for people. The cab ride from the airport to the hotel is awesome, as you get to see the lovely city and look forward to your trip. The next best thing is walking into the casino and hearing the sounds and realizing that you have just started your vacation.

Cab it. If you do get on a shuttle, for your sake I hope it is not time for the driver to get off. My cousin met us in Vegas once. We arrived in the morning and hers at night. She decided to take a shuttle and literally feared for her live. Driver was running red lights, stop signs, going the wrong way down Vegas Blvd, all while smoking a cig.

The olny thing the drive did do right was make sure to use his signal while going the wrong way on LVB.

Cabs are more convenient. May cost more but worth it to me.

It%26#39;s Vegas, unless you%26#39;re getting dropped at the first stop, take a cab. Don%26#39;t waste part of your vacation being cattled from one stop to the next. No tunnel unless you%26#39;re staying at South Point. If you have a group, try limo.

Take a cab- It%26#39;s Vegas- it may cost you a few more bucks, but what the heck - your whole stay you%26#39;ll be flipping a buck here a buck there.

It%26#39;s so wonderful! I always try to put it in perspective. I can stick a $20 in a machine without a second thought - but hem and haw about the costs of some things.

shuttle = no way

cab = maybe

limo = absolutely. not much more $ than a cab and worth the convenience. I%26#39;ve been saying this for ages, lately many converts - try it, you%26#39;ll like it
