Old Downtown

Leaving on Monday with 2 other couples. One couple have never been to Las Vegas before, so they would like to go to see Freemont Street. Any suggestions on a good place to eat but not too expensive. Where is the best buffet here? We have eaten down here 2 times before but I don%26#39;t remember the names of the restaurants. I know that one restaurant was downstairs and we had to line up for a while to get in as it was very busy. I know they had very cheap steak specials on but it was a long time ago so that is all I remember. Thanks for your help.

Old Downtown

give us a price range ';not too expensive'; is subjective

Old Downtown

They probably will want to eat at a buffet because it will be cheaper, but if they decide on a restaurant they probably won%26#39;t want to pay $50 for a steak or whatever is on the menu.

It sounds like the Downstairs restaurant with the cheap steaks may have been Binions Coffee Shop- but many on this Forum feel the quality has declined there. If you are looking for an economical meal , you might like Magnolia%26#39;s at the Four Queens which has a prime rib special ( Hugos downstairs from it is somewhat expensive and requires reservations generally). I also like Pasta Pirate at the California , which has a varied menu not just pasta. Also one of the other restaurants at California ( I think it%26#39;s called Market Cafe)- has a prime rib special that even includes cherries jubilele for dessert. California is right behind Las Vegas Club, just off Fremont Street.

Most folks feel the Golden Nugget or the Main Street Station have the best buffets downtown. Of late , some people have not seemed as pleased with the Nugget%26#39;s. They moved it upstairs and jacked up the price a couple of dollars.- but it does still have it%26#39;s fans.

The downstairs restaurant sounds like the cafe at Binions. The cheap seak special they offer is way too tough to eat and not worth it at all. I%26#39;ve had the Prime Rib special and it is OK. They also have the Ranch Steak House upstairs. There are others that will offer reviews of higher end places downtown. Most places have buffets, cafes and at least one higher end restaurant. I kind of like Binions cafe. I also eat at the Golden Gate cafe. I am cheap, but don%26#39;t eat junk just because of the price. Main Street Station has a decent buffet at good prices. I wasn%26#39;t really impressed with the Golden Nugget buffet, but did like their Carson Street Cafe. Stay away from the Plaza. The breakfast buffet at the Fremont Hotel is like $5.79 and the chef makes a good omlette. Plenty of options downtown and you can read all about it on the web site below.

Another good choice is the Center Stage restaurant inside the Plaza Hotel. Very reasonable! They also have the biggest and one of the best prime ribs in town!

I really enjoyed the California. The have that prime rib special with potato, salad bar and dessert for like $8.99. If you go to LasVegas Advisor or cheapo you can find cheap eats downtown. If you are downtown late the graveyard specials are great too.

Where do you think the best graveyard specials can be found?

The list on Las Vegas Advisor seems to have shrunk for the downtown places.

Thanks,

Mar.
