Day Tour Bus trip from Reno to San Francisco

When we were in Reno in 2000 and 2003 there was a day bus trip from Reno to San Francisco that included a city tour of San Francisco. We will be coming back to Reno in 2006 and some friends that were not along before would like to make the trip. Does anyone know if this trip is still available. We are bowlers and wondered if maybe the trip was an added feature when bowlers are in town for Nationals or if this is a regularly shceduled trip. Thanks for any information.

I am asking the same question about the day trip from Reno to San Francisco when we come out to Reno for the National Bowling tournament. alabowler1116@aol.com (alabama)

Day Tour Bus trip from Reno to San Francisco

A day trip from Reno to San Francisco and back is mostly just a miserable day spent on the bus! It%26#39;s about nine hours round trip in good traffic. In bad traffic, it could take 10 or 12 hours. You%26#39;d have almost no time to sightsee, and you%26#39;d be exhausted by the time you returned, which wouldn%26#39;t help your bowling at all. The only way to see SF in a day from Reno is to fly. However, I%26#39;d still recommend you not do a day trip. Your best bet is to try to schedule no less than an overnighter in SF, and ideally a few nights. SF is a GREAT city! There is much to see and do. It would be a shame not to allocate enough time to get at least a taste of The City. So if you can%26#39;t spend at least a night there, you%26#39;d be better off taking a day trip to someplace close to Reno, such as Lake Tahoe, or Virginia City, and planning to visit SF in the future when you have time to do it right.

Have a good trip and bowl well!

I didn%26#39;t know that there were day trip bus tours from Reno to SF. I do know that there are a lot of overnight bus trips from Bay Area to Reno for casino patrons.

Traffic along I-80 has gotten worse since 2003 - signs of prosperity I suppose. It%26#39;s still do-able if the bus leaves by 8AM and reach the city around Noon and that%26#39;ll give you 4-5 hours of SF then you%26#39;ll hit the freeway again for another 4 hours before getting back to Reno.

Good luck with your competition and enjoy your stay in Reno!

I%26#39;m with Joe, it would be unpleasant at best, miserable is certainly possible based on I80. I would pass and spend a nice day in Tahoe.

I have been to the bowling convention in Reno and I used Nevada Adventure Tours they seem to know who has what going on. There website is www.nevadaadventuretours.com

I find it easier to e mail them, they are always busy on the phone.

Thanks

You should rent a car for the day and go to SF. It is doable in a day. We often fly in or out of SF when we go to Reno for the summer. We also have lots of people visit thru the summer. Flights to and from ATL to RNO are $$$ so we go thru SFO. We leave in the morning and arrive in SF by lunch. We have 8 hours to tour around the city then drive back to Reno late that night. If you leave after 8pm then the drive only takes 3.5 hours. Also the drive over the mountains is beautiful. Going take the GG bridge into the city, a little longer. Then home take Bay Bridge.

I posted a message about this. I know that Nevada adventure tours offered it last year, and if you call them they might know what is up with it.

The do day tours and if they dont have it I found that they were very helpful in giving me the phone number or the name of companies that do offer it.

Thanks
