May 4-7th Need an affordable central strip hotel

I booked a surprise birthday vacation for my fiance - he has never been and I have been lots. Unfortunately, I can%26#39;t afford the Venetian, Bellagio and the other top rated hotels. I want it to be a great experience for my fiance but at an affordable price(like $250 and under). A nice pool is very important, we want to go to a few shows, a bit of gambling, nice restaurants. If we stay at an affordable off strip hotel we will have to pay for cab fares - it kind of equals itself out in the end. We are 26 and 42. I%26#39;m also going to ask him to marry me!

Laura, it appears that the average rates for MGM, Monte Carlo, Mirage or Flamingo might work for you. The Friday and Saturday night stays are higher than $250, but the weekday rates are lower.

I would recommend booking directly with one of those hotels now, sign up for their email specials and continue to monitor rates. If they go down, you can either ask for a rate adjustment where ever you%26#39;ve booked or book the property with the lower rate and cancel your original.

flamingo is central strip, has one of the best pools in town, and usually has decent rates.

Not sure if you%26#39;ll be able to find anything under $250 w/ a nice pool during these dates - there%26#39;s a few conventions going on. From 5/6 - 5/9 Bally%26#39;s has a convention of 3,000 %26amp; Mandalay Bay has 16,000. On May 8 a large 60,000 Kitchen/Bath convention %26amp; those people may come in early. Hope you do find something nice - sounds like it%26#39;ll be a pretty important and memorable trip.

Just so you are aware that is the weekend of the DeLahoya vs. Mayweather fight. This is slated as one of the biggest boxing matches in years, so it will probably be very difficult to find a remotely reasonable room that weekend. Good Luck, but you may have better luck slightly off strip. Try the orleans.

You picked one of the most expensive week-ends of the year to go. The nicest hotel you%26#39;ll be able to get is the Monte Carlo at your budget (before taxes).

thanks everyone. I did not realize it was a busy weekend. At least I purchased my airline tickets on points! I guess I%26#39;ll just lump it and pay the premium prices and have a good time. Hey, it%26#39;s just money!

I noticed you refered to him as your fiance, and you are going to ask him to marry you. Not to be too techical here, but if you haven%26#39;t asked him yet wouldn%26#39;t he still be your just your boyfriend?

I%26#39;m just kidding, best of luck to you two.

I forgot to mention this: the Monte Carlo has a ';Fight Special May 07'; for the exact dates of your stay. They give you two tickets to the inhouse cable viewing of the fight for a total of $699 + tax. Even if you don%26#39;t watch the fight, its still $50 cheaper than the regular rate.

By the way, the reason its so expensive that weekend is because of the Kentucky Derby.

Hi Laura - after some checking of rates, I would say that it is definitely a popular weekend to be in LV. Monte Carlo looks like it would work. We personally stay there and love it. They also have a great pool area. For your dates it is 780.00

That was the least expensive of all the ones I looked at.

Mirage - 967.00

Flamingo - 1002.00

TI- 837

Bally%26#39;s - nothing available on Sat. (at least on the internet)

Paris 1021

Caesar%26#39;s 1300

MGM I think it was 1500.00

Since you%26#39;ve been there lots, do you have any relationships with any of the hotels/casinos. Do you use have a player%26#39;s card that might qualify you for discounted rates? If there is some history established, you can always call and speak with a host and see if they have any casino rates availabe to you.

Yeah it%26#39;s only money! - you%26#39;ll be making some great memories - good luck to you!
