Info for those who had questions:
I received a letter from the Golden Nugget regarding the arrangements for vehicle use during the Vegas Grand Prix.
”Because the track does surround the GN, no traffic will be allowed in or out the property during the following hours:
Friday, April 6 – 6am to 6pm
Sat – April 7 – 6am to 5:30pm
Sun – April 8 – 7am to 6:30pm
Taxi cab drop-offs and pick-ups will be located nearby at 3rd Street and Carson where a walkover bridge will allow you to cross the track. The GN will have a tent set up at this location where check-in assistance will be provided. If you are driving in, please plan to park in the Fremont Street (Big Red) garage located on 4th Street and Fremont as there will be no access to the GN parking garages while the track is active. There is another walkover bridge at this location.”
“ The Vegas Grand Prix is a three-day festival of speed which will include concerts, extreme sports demonstrations, and numerous automobile races through the streets of downtown Las Vegas including the 2007 season opener of the Champ Car World Series. The 2.44 mile, 12 turn course surrounds the GN on three sides, so there will be no better place in town to catch the high speed action”
Info re: Golden Nugget Vegas Grand Prix 4/6/07
to me this will all be a headache whenall is said and done. I leave out on Thursday so hopefully will miss much of, and will try to do my downtown visit on Monday of that week when it%26#39;s not to much of pain. I guess if this was a real racing circuit, say like the IRL, then it would be worth it, but Chump Car?
Info re: Golden Nugget Vegas Grand Prix 4/6/07
If you leave on Thursday this will have ZERO effect on you.
I%26#39;m staying downtown this weekend as well and I had no idea the grand prix was going to be there. For me, it will ruin my vacation as I feel it is ridiculous to restrict access in and out of my hotel from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Well unless they are the fastest workers in the world, there is no way they can set up that track Thursday night, thus my bet is they will begin building the track at some point early in the week, which will make it more difficult to get downtown.
Indy - Some of us are coming because its it Champ Car!
The track has been under construction for several weeks now.
It definatly would not be a headace if it was the IRL because who would care?
the only EARL races i%26#39;ve seen have only been attended by a couple of hundred people who got free tickets and red Marlboro hats for buying cancer sticks.
the owner of the indy speedway is the one who screwed race fans now champ and irl are both FUBAR
harrypotter: it shouldn%26#39;t ruin your vacation- you%26#39;ll still have access in and out of the hotel on foot, just not into their parking areas by car. it will be less convenient I expect, but you%26#39;ll still be able to move around. Just read up on the parking situations and make sure you car is where you want it to be.
