Just got back yesterday from a 3-night stay at the Flamingo. I went with my girlfriend, both early 40’s, it was my 5th trip to Vegas within the last 2 years and her 2nd. I had 2 nights free and 3rd night was $105. This was my 3rd stay at the Flamingo, I feel it has the best value and you can%26#39;t beat the location.I know there are nicer resort with nicer rooms, but I don%26#39;t go to Vegas to stay in my room, so as long as I have a comfy bed and running water for a shower, I%26#39;m good.
Flight from Dallas was uneventful except parking at DFW was a mess due to spring break and all, and the shuttle busses were crowded.
First night we ate at Margaritaville, very good nachos and a just ok cheeseburger. Instead of waiting an hour for a table we went up to the second floor on our own and found several seats available at the bar. We were in a bit of a hurry since we had tickets to see Love, so this worked out well and we probably got better service from the bartender Adam than we would have had at a table anyway since the place was so crowded.
As far as the Beatles Love, my brother saw it in December and told me not to waste money buying the best seats but instead recommended balcony seating, so I bought front row balcony tickets (Sec. 305, row AA) through the Mirage website about a month ago and must say my brother was right. I think with the up close seats you’d be craning your neck a lot and wouldn’t be able to take it all in, not to mention you totally miss the special effect during one part of the show when they cover the “best seats” with a sheet. It was an excellent show, not as good as Mystere, but I do recommend it for all Beatles fans, just don’t splurge on the tickets!
Monday morning we had breakfast at La Cantina Salsa, which I read about on this site. La Cantina is in the Miracle Mile Mall at Planet Hollywood Casino, which is formerly known as the Dessert Passage Mall at Aladdin! Following this??? The mall part is pretty much the same and construction is still going on out front. The breakfast was very good and for only $3.95, it was a great deal. We then shopped a bit and then went back to Flamingo and Barbary Coast, I mean Bill’s, to gamble.
Even though Bill’s is now a Harrah’s property, it has its own players card and they don’t accept the Total Rewards card, so we signed up for Bill’s Card and both got a free t-shirt. Pretty much it hasn’t changed any, still low limits and Big Elvis, just now a bit cleaner with new table felt and all and it smells better, guess shutting the place down for day or 2 and actually cleaning it helped out!
Speaking of Total Rewards, the Harrah’s properties are each running a deal where if you get 50 points on your card in a 24 hour period (from 5 p.m. to 5 p.m.), you get a little pager thingy and if it goes off you go back to the Rewards desk and win a prize, I won $100 comp credits and my girlfriend one $50, and a guy in front of us won $250. Also we got the 50 points easily by just playing .25 cent slots for an hour or so in the morning.
I usually play table games but for this trip I played some slots since I met up with some friends and they play mostly slots, and must say I am now a fan since I hit three $250 wins on .25 slots in one day! I hit at O’Sheas twice at the W of F slots next to the wall, and then again later that night at the Flamingo. Add that with my girlfriend winning $300 playing roulette, we came out OK on this trip.
Monday night we had dinner at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant, I like to eat at one nice place per visit and since it was my first trip with my girlfriend, I decided on this for a nice romantic dinner. I must say the ambiance and atmosphere is very quant and elegant, but for the overall dining experience and the food I preferred Mon Ami Gabi which I dined at last year, and it’s about half the price. Total bill was $180 with a bottle of wine. In fact, my girlfriend thanked me for taking her to such a special place for dinner, but said if she had the choice she’d have preferred just having the nachos from Margaritaville again! I guess she’s a keeper!!lol
Tuesday night we saw Mama Mia at Mandalay Bay, very good show and excellent sound quality. We went with same friends who were staying at the Flamingo as well. Since there was 7 of us, I recommended we just take the Deuce and they all agreed. They couldn’t believe it was only $5 for a 24-hour pass (they obviously don’t read Trip Advisor) and then became upset realizing they spent over $80 in taxis when they could have done it all for $25 in Deuce passes. I don’t rent a car in Vegas, and pretty much get everywhere by walking or taking the bus, not to mention people watching on the Deuce is entertaining in itself!
Overall a good trip and I got my Vegas fix for 6 months are so. Next trip I plan on making it to downtown!

Flamingo trip report....3/11 to 3/14
Chillinfool, I want to go to vegas when you are there...you have good luck ! Thanks for the nice TR. It helps us addicts.
Hi! We are staying 4 nights at Flamingo in early April. I%26#39;m just wondering about the weather and if or when the pool will be open. I%26#39;ve heard that it has been hot in Vegas--was it? Was it shorts weather?
Nice TR! I am glad you liked La Salsa for breakfast. I am eager to give it a try for breakfast, as we enjoy eatting lunch there. Do they serve margaritas for breakfast too? Hehe :)
Hello...Thanks for TR ..I am going to Vegas april 28th thru may 3rd and staying at Flamingo as well.....did you have a Go room or renovated room??? I think the rooms look nice...
Great TR-thanks for taking the time to write it for us. When I saw Love in August I had the cheapest seat- last row and it was fine- I was able to see everything. And I do agree with you- the Eiffel Tower restaurant is great for the view- but the food isn%26#39;t as great. You can get better food elsewhere for the price. Any trip that allows you to say you made out ';ok'; is a winning trip in Vegas. Glad you had such a nice time.
The weather was in the 80%26#39;s during the day and 60%26#39;s at night, very comfortable. Most people were in shorts, and there was some people in the pools but it was still a bit too cool for me.
We had a renovated room on the 27th floor facing north. We saw the corner of the Stardust and the fireworks going over the Venetion when the Stardust was imploded. I asked about Go rooms but they were all booked. It was a very crowded week with SPring break %26amp; conventions.
Thanks for the trip report- hubby and I are staying at the Flamingo in April and can%26#39;t wait to hit some of the places you were. Thanks for the tip about a sperate Rewards Card.
This is the first time we are going and not renting a car so it%26#39;s good to hear it%26#39;s perfectly fine without it.
Thanks for the report. My hubby and I are headed to The Flamingo in Sept. We will def. hit Margaritaville for a late lunch/dinner. I am a big fan of nachos. Glad you and your girlfriend had a nice trip.
Hi Chillin, nice report. We are staying at the Flamingo in June.
