2007 Las Vegas Grand Prix, April

Darn it! I scheduled a trip to be in Vegas downtown at the California hotel from April 3-7. I had no idea that the roads would be closed for the 2007 Las Vegas Grand Prix.

From looking at the map from the official website, it doesn%26#39;t look like you can walk from the California hotel to any of the other downtown hotels!!! I won%26#39;t be able to walk to the Plaza, Golden Nugget, Fremont.

It looks like this will ruin a good part of my trip. Not to mention, driving in and out of the place. Why did they choose to have this event encapsulate and close off all the downtown hotels?? It makes no sense for the hotel guests. Fun for the crowd, but not fun for the hotel guests trying to get and out of the parking garage.

Sorry that is going to wreck your holiday, but there are $76.6 million reasons why, %26amp; another $4 million ending up in government coffers, for some of us , its the reason we are going to Vegas, try to have fun %26amp; watch the race you may enjoy it.

You will still be able to get around downtown. The race does not go down fremont street. They have bridegs that go over the road so u can access downtown by foot. Also you could park at MSS by using Stewert Street and take the walkway from there to California.

Will the roads be closed on April 4? Is there a map that is available that would show which roads are closed?

Will the crowds be signigicant on the 4th of April?

Consider changing hotels. Come join me out at the Mirage.

I must really have a bad computer, because no matter how many times I have tried, I have never been able to see the road course on the web site. I will be in vegas from March 31-April 5, leaving right before everything starts, but I figure the course will be put togther and closed off before Thursday. I am staying at the Orleans but want to go downtown at least 1 night. In the past I have parked at the parking garage at the end of Freemont str. Does anyone know if you will be able to get to that? Or if coming from the Strip, what way can you travel to get downtown?

The traffic restrictions are as follows

Friday, April 6 - 6 a.m. 6 p.m

Saturday, April 7 - 6 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Sunday, April 8 - 7 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Do you have to pay to attend the rock concert? Which night is it?

Concerts and street party are free. I know among other places you can park at MSS from stewert street. Here is a link tot he race course map. Street party is Friday 6-11.
