I dont know about others..I am a middle class person and I find Vegas prices crazy....every thing costs a arm and leg.
Why is Vegas catering only to the wealthy?Sorry to disagree with you but Vegas is a middle class playground. It just depends what you are looking for to do when you are there. There are multiple fine medium priced hotels on the strip such as the Harrah%26#39;s locations along with some of the MGM properties. For food there are good valued buffets and places like Ellis Island just off the strip. $5.00 tables can be had on the strip at places like O%26#39;Sheas and Casino Royale. Even some shows can be had for 1/2 price if you look hard.
The only overpriced things are rooms at the Bellagio and such, but there are people that consider them worth the money if they are not going to Vegas for the gambling. They like eating in fancy restaurants and are not rich.
Overall I think Vegas can be had for the same price as Disney or less than a trip to the Islands as long as your gambling has its limits.
Why is Vegas catering only to the wealthy?Yes, Vegas can be pricey, alright!
So is Hawaii, and Disneyworld, and all the other touristy places on the planet! Why, even here in Canada... Have you ever been to Banff? Lake Louise? Jasper?
If you want to travel, you must pay the price. It%26#39;s all about making money! I, too, am middle class, and I know when I get to Vegas for my 2 week stint this July, I better be prepared to ante up! Save your $$, go, and have a great time!

The pricing of any holiday destination is all about supply and demand. Vegas hotels are a real bargain when you compare like for like in various large cities in the US. Bellagio or Wynn are often under $200 a night, can%26#39;t find a hotel that nice for the price in Boston, NY, LA, Chicago or Philly etc etc.
I disagree. I can go to LV for 5 days for less than half of what I would pay to go to Disney, Los Angeles, on a cruise, to Florida, any place.
Most vacation destinations don%26#39;t have the wide range of hotels, food, shows, etc for every price range.
Because the wealthy have more money to spend.
Vegas can be expensive unless you check things out in advance.
Plan ahead. Know where to go and how much it will cost.
Vegas is a place for DREAMERS and those in touch with reality.
The short answer to your question is... they figured out they could! When the Bellagio became a success, it became evident that people are willing to spend more on accommodations, dining and shows. Add to that the poker craze, which made gambling acceptable to many people who didn%26#39;t even think about going to Vegas before, and you have increased demand. They%26#39;re not catering exclusively to the wealthy - they%26#39;ve just perfected the art of squeezing every last buck out of patrons.
If you avoid weekends, holidays and major conventions, maybe stay at one of the better off-Strip hotels, it can be quite affordable. I once managed to go 5 times in one year on a salary in the mid-20s (air was free, though.) Do some research, there are bargains out there to be found!
Manny, Vegas is all things to all people. One can stay DT, play penny slots, eat buffets and use coupons and have a total Vegas fix. Or you can pony up big bucks at Wynn. It, like life, is what you make of it. Or are you a Chateau Lafitte guy with a Pepsi budget???
underpar LOL funny u say that cause i have a friend that is just like that... but his budget is more around a sams club soda:)
