How long to drive from Reno to Lake Tahoe?

Can you please tell me how long does it take to drive from Reno to Lake Tahoe?

And how long would it take to drive from Las Vegas to Lake Tahoe? Is this an easy drive and is there much to see along the way?

We want to get to Lake Tahoe in 1 day from Las Vegas so I don%26#39;t know whether to fly into Reno or do the whole drive from Las Vegas.

from vegas its about 7.5-9 hour drive depending how fast you drive from reno it will be about 90 minutes

you can usually book a southwest airlines flight for around 100 dollars round trip from las vegas to reno if you book far enough in advance

i did that drive yesterday between Reno airport and South Lake Tahoe, near the state border point, and it took about 90 minutes, easy drive.

I think that drive from Vegas to Tahoe will depend on the time of year. Will this be during the summer?

It will be over Christmas, so Winter.

We are a bit worried about driving with snow.

We are hiring a 4WD so we should be ok but if it takes a full day to drive to Lake Tahoe from Vegas looks like we are better to try to get a cheap flight to Reno pick up our car and have the short easier drive to Lake Tahoe.

I drove Mammoth to Lake Tahoe during the winter and there is a reason that this route is lightly traveled at that time. I thought the drive was harrowing. The wind was fierce and blew the snow off the ground to ice the road. A large tractor trailer had blown over on the southbound lanes (we were northbound at the time) We decided that we would not ever again make that drive during the winter. On the southbound leg of the trip the weather was fine and the drive was no problem. If you could be guaranteed of that type of weather then the drive would be ok - long but not difficult. It does not have to be snowing to make the drive miserable though.

I think flying Vegas to Reno and then the short trip to Tahoe would be a better use of your time.

i agree as there are a ton of mountain passes where you could hit snow save yourself the trouble and book a southwest flight to reno

Hello everyone...we%26#39;re going in late June and renting a car in Reno to drive Lake Tahoe...good info on the drive time...what type of roads are we going to encounter from Reno to L. T.? Mountainous, curvy or interstate?

Does anyone know a site for inexpensive car rentals for our trip?

about 90 mins from the airport you go over one pass thats 2 lanes in each direction as for car rental i allways get good deals with hertz because we are AAA members
