Death Valley, VOF, RR or Lake Mead tour

While in vegas I would like to get out of town on at least 1 day. Which of the four listed (Death Valley, Valley of fire, Red Rock or a boat tour on Lake Mead) would those here recomend? I have a car so getting to these points isn%26#39;t a problem and I will have an entire day.

what time of year?

RRC and VOF is an easy one day tour with time left over. Death Valley will take the whole day.

I would do Hoover Dam/Lake Mead/ Valley of Fire. To me this is a must see trip. They are not far apart. You can take the Lake Mead cruise and still see Hoover Dam and VOF. VOF has spectacular sandstone formations that are absolutely breathtaking. You can just drive to each formation but to really appreciate the beauty you should hike on some of the trails. Some are short- especially the one with Indian wall drawings. You can bring water and food (none is available in the park)-they have picnic areas. You will not be disappointed with this trip.

Depending on how much time you spend in VOF/Lake Mead- you can still squeeze in Red Rock Canyon. It is on the west side of town- less than 30 minutes from the strip. It has a 13 mile loop you can drive on with pull off points that allow you to get out of the car. It also has hiking trails. It is a favorite of rock climbers. Once you see VOF you will not be as impressed with RRC. If I had time to do only one- it would definitely be VOF.

vp has a great plan i wouldnt want to go to death valley in the summer
